Principle

Digital identity enables Monegasques and Residents to use their ID card or residence permit to access online services.

Within the framework of the issuance of certificates related to digital identity, the City Hall acts as a Registration Authority for nationals.

The purpose of the Terms of Use is to specify the terms and conditions for the issue and use of electronic certificates related to digital identity as well as the respective commitments and obligations of the various parties concerned.

Process for requesting, renewing and cancelling certificates

Applying for an electronic certificate 

To apply for an electronic certificate, you will need to apply for an identity card from Monaco City Hall.

The procedure to follow is set out on this page.

Renewal 

All electronic certificates are issued for a maximum of three (3) years and no longer than the expiry date of the identity card.

Identity cards issued by City Hall are valid for five (5) years.

The user may renew the certificates associated with their digital identity (preferably) before the three (3) years expire.

To do so, the user should visit the interactive terminals at City Hall or at the Police Department and follow the steps shown on the screen.

Révocation :

Cancellation 

In the event that the id card is lost or stolen and their certificates may have been compromised, the user should use the cancellation code sent on the same day as the card was issued (recorded on the identity card slip) to complete the cancellation form which can be accessed online using this link. Requests to cancel certificates must be made as soon as the relevant event becomes known.

In the event that the cancellation code has been lost, the user should contact City Hall Registry Office – Nationality (see “City Hall Certification Authority point of contact” above).
