How to obtain a digital identity in Monaco
If you have an identity card issued after 1st July 2021, you have a Monegasque digital identity.
We invite you to activate it on an interactive terminal so that you can use it with MConnect.
If you do not have a Monegasque identity card that supports digital identity, please contact the Civil Status - Nationality Department at Monaco Town Hall to request one.
If you have a residence permit issued after 1 July 2021, you have a Monegasque digital identity.
We invite you to activate it on an interactive terminal so that you can use it with MConnect.
If you do not have a Monegasque residence permit that supports digital identity, please apply for a residence permit online from the Residents Section of the Public Safety Department.
To obtain a Monegasque digital identity, you must be invited by a department of the State of Monaco to create your digital identity.
If this is the case, you will receive an e-mail allowing you to do this online.
Please refer to this e-mail and follow the instructions.
Remember to check your spam if you have not received the e-mail.

Digital identity and MConnect
Monaco's digital identity enables you to:
- Secure your connection: connect to online services via MConnect. The MConnect authentication service meets the highest international standards.
- Simplify your connection: no more login or password. You validate your connection using the MConnect Mobile application on your smartphone.
- Protect your online identity: Your identity is validated and recognised by the online services you authenticate to with MConnect.
Monaco's digital identity is issued by a Monegasque government department.
